Tell Kitsap County permit reviewers that we value the canopy of our trees in Southworth. Clear-cutters Meghan and Clint Edwards at 11090 SE Southworth Dr. Port Orchard, WA have submitted an "after the fact" permit to legalize their forest violations of 2019. Their plans for new agricultural operations propose clearing more land and fail to protect neighbors with buffers of replacement trees. When contacting these reviewers, supervisors, and compliance officers, remember to include the current permit number (20-04869) or address of the clear-cut property (11090 SE Southworth Dr. Port Orchard, WA) along with your comments.

Be an "Interested Party"
By asking to be listed as an "interested party" on a permit, you will receive additional notice from the County of the opportunity to make comments. Clear-cutter Meghan Edwards, when seeing the first interested party listed on her permit in October, 2020, sent her dismay to the County:

"Does this person have access to everything we submit within the permit? Are they able to impede our progress at any time if they object to our project? If the county agrees that we are in compliance and meet every criteria can this interested party still object to delay project? We are ready to get this entire project behind us and work with the county achieve our goals in a timely manner."

This statement illuminates why community feedback is so important. Without "interested parties," entitled and impatient landowners may never realize that their impacts matter. Send a request to Help@Kitsap1.com and ask to be an "interested party" on this permit (20-04869)

The following individuals at the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners and Department of Community Development (DCD) have been involved in handling this forest violation:

As part of State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) requirements, residents within a certain distance of the clear-cut property are notified to formally comment prior to permit issuance. By then, however, the County reviewers typically have already made their determinations about what they will require of the applicant. So don't wait... Comment now!
